Investing in the social and mental well-being of children is important for their upbringing and critical to prevent illness later in life. This is the reason why Daiichi Sankyo’s “Make Your Heart Feel Good”-Initiative supports the Austrian-German charity “Little Hearts”.
Support for the “Little Hearts”
“Little Hearts” (“Kleine Herzen”) is an NGO dedicated to transforming orphanages across Eastern Europe into family homes. When parents lose their work, their health and a direction in life their children suffer the most. Some of them have to leave home and grow up in orphanages. In Eastern Europe many children’s homes still lack the funding to provide the boys and girls with a loving and caring environment.
Creating loving homes
“Little Hearts” wants to change that, working with orphanages to find solutions to their most important problems. The projects are based on the principles of the SOS Children’s Villages and try to create a family-like environment. The caretakers receive special training to raise children who are often traumatized.
Particular emphasis is placed on help for children with physical and learning disabilities. “Little Hearts” tries to improve their quality of care thus improving the quality of life.
Daiichi Sankyo combines the support for “Little Hearts” with a campaign to protect “Big Hearts” increasing awareness for cardiovascular diseases.
