A Home for the Little Hearts
After her emotional journey experienced during the adoption of her Russian son Igor, Pascale Vayer decided to found the non-profit organization “Little Hearts” to support children in need in Eastern Europe.
Pascale Vayer, Founder of “Little Hearts”, describes the miserable living conditions of orphans in Eastern Europe: “It is unbelievable to see such poverty only some hundred kilometers away from Vienna.” Orphanages in Eastern Europe lack the financial means to provide children with a better future. There is state funding for food and lodging but no support for any kind of therapy or a more family-like environment. “The orphans are like children everywhere around the world. They long for a better life and are still optimistic despite of their current situation”, says Vayer.
“Little Hearts” mission is giving to Orphans their right to live in families who will love them, unconditionally. “Little hearts” main goal is to bring change to orphanages in Eastern Europe by remodeling and equipping the buildings into family apartments and by offering training to pedagogues and future “mothers”. The projects are based on the principles of the SOS Children’s Villages and create a family-like environment.
Since 2014 Daiichi Sankyo and its employees have supported “Little Hearts” with donations. We contributed to the remodeling of a Russian orphanage into family apartments and are currently providing Ukrainian disabled orphans with access to specialized therapies.
